Objective of Peer Review:
Peer review is an essential process that ensures the quality, originality, and integrity of research published in the journal. Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining high editorial standards and guiding authors toward improvement.
Initial Manuscript Evaluation:
All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening by the Editor-in-Chief to verify scope, formatting, and ethical compliance. Manuscripts that do not meet minimum criteria may be rejected at this stage. Those meeting the criteria are sent to at least two independent reviewers for evaluation.
Type of Peer Review:
JAHMS primarily uses a double-blind review process, where both authors’ and reviewers’ identities are kept confidential. In some cases, a single-blind review may be applied, where reviewers remain anonymous but authors are known. The journal does not employ open review at present.
Reviewer Selection:
Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the relevant field. Authors may suggest potential reviewers; however, the final selection is at the discretion of the editorial team.
Reviewer Reports:
Reviewers provide an objective assessment of the manuscript and recommend one of the following:
Reviewers are not responsible for copyediting or language correction, which is managed separately by the editorial team.
Editorial Decision:
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on all manuscripts based on reviewers’ recommendations, overall scientific quality, and adherence to ethical standards. Authors receive detailed feedback and guidance from reviewers along with the final decision.
Publication Process:
1. Submission acknowledgement is sent to the corresponding author.
2. Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using recognized software.
3. Initial quality and ethical compliance check is performed by the Editor-in-Chief.
4. Manuscripts are sent for double-blind peer review.
5. Decisions communicated to authors include: Accepted without revision, Revision required (major/minor), or Rejected.
6. Upon acceptance, copyright forms and any required publication agreements are completed.
7. Final accepted manuscripts are prepared for publication and published online.
This structured process ensures that JAHMS maintains rigorous academic standards while providing authors with clear guidance and timely communication throughout the peer review and publication process.
